Margaritas are normally reserved for days lounging on warm sandy beaches while listening to the same Jimmy Buffet song over and over again. However, by changing up the flavors you can easily transform this summertime drink into a refreshing holiday treat! The original recipe is from here, but I’ve made a few changes in order to amp up the holiday flavors.
Cranberry Margaritas (Serves 4)
1 cup cranberry juice (not cocktail)
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup cranberries, fresh or frozen (if frozen let thaw a bit before using)
1/3 -1/2 cup lime juice (depending on how limey you want things)
3/4 cup tequila
1/2 cup orange flavored liqueur (I used triple sec)
3 cups crushed ice
Orange zest and cinnamon to taste (optional)
Combine the first 6 ingredients in a blender and pulse until smooth. Add the ice and pulse to your desired consistency. Add the orange zest and cinnamon to taste.
Wet the rim of a glass with tequila, orange liqueur, or water and dip in sugar (or cinnamon sugar if you’re feeling extra spicy!) Garnish with cranberries and a wedge of lime.
